The Islander Calypso is one of the most popular sit on top kayaks, Islander has to offer. Thanks to its sturdy and stable design, the Calypso is fantastic for all the family. The Calypso is great fun and is easy to handle on the water, and the keeled hull shape helps to control the kayak in a straighter line. The self-draining hull ensures that the sit on top is really safe to paddle. In the event of capsizing, the Calypso is quick and simple to flip back over, after which the excess water will simply drain away.

The Islander Calypso is also hassle free when moving to and from the water’s edge, weighing in at 22kg. It can be lifted by two people, safely and without difficulty, on to a roof rack for transportation. The Calypso features two strong, comfortable grab handles, positioned at the bow and stern. There are also two moulded in side handles, which are super sturdy and can even double up as a secure attachment point for a theft deterrent, such as the Playboater Rack Guard.

The Islander Calypso offers plenty of storage for those longer days out on the water. A large tankwell with bungee cord is a handy area for storing your kayak trolley or a dry bag. At the bow, the Calypso has a 10inch round hatch, which opens to allow you to store extra gear inside the kayak. A smaller 5inch hatch is located just in front of the seat, better for housing your more essential items.

The Islander Calypso comes off the self with an adjustable deluxe backrest, enabling you to achieve the most comfortable seating position on the water. The kayak also features an ergonomically shaped foot well area, with different positions to put your feet, depending on the length of your legs. The D-Ring attachment points are a handy feature if you’d like to add thigh braces, giving you greater connection and control over the Calypso.
