Old Town Penobscot 174
If you are looking for a well tracking canoe with plenty of space for passengers or kit, the Old Town Penobscot 174 is for you! The Old Town Penobscot 174 is the longest of all of the Penobscot range meaning it will track fantastically in a straight line and have plenty of space for kit or smaller paddlers.
Unlike a lot of other canoe models, the Penobscot 174 has a very little amount of rocker (the amount of curvature the hull has from bow-stern). This gives it a very long waterline making the boat brilliant to track in a straight line and cover distance. The Penobscot 174 is long and measures in at 17 foot 4 inches, you will have lots of space to load up the canoe without fear that you will impact or reduce the performance of the boat. This makes paddling with the family easy as you will have space for two adults and two smaller passengers
Because of its well tracking nature, and high load capacity the Penobscot has been a popular option and favorite for years! It's an easy boat to paddle and will be perfect for someone new to the sport. If you are looking to get started with an open canoe and want something that doesn't take a lot of learning to be able to paddle, has a high weight capacity, and is big enough for any extras that you'd want to take, then this is the boat for you.
