Valley Etain
Valley are a company that have been part of the sea kayak world for many, many years and produced one of the most popular expedition sea kayak designs of all time; the Nordkapp, way back in 1974. The Etain is a departure from their traditionally fish form boat designs (widest point forward of the cockpit) with a swede form shape (widest point rear of the centre) that offers slightly better glide through the water and a less encumbered paddling stroke, thanks to its narrower shape in front of the cockpit area.
Compared to the older Valley designs we all know, the Etain has better initial stability due to its shallow V section hull and and swede form design. The hull also has a moderate rocker which allows you to still have a fun and lively ride and once on edge the Etain sits on a solid wall of secondary stability and allows you to turn positively and effortlessly.
The Valley Etain is fitted out with everything you would expect to see from a top end expedition sea kayak including a central storage pod in front of the cockpit. Although this is not the largest of storage hatches it gives the paddler ample leg room and foot room which is essential for the larger footed paddler. It is also removable to allow you to carry it off if you stop in town for lunch. There is plenty of other storage in the 2 large oval hatches and round day hatch and a wire operated drop down skeg helps with directional stability in windy conditions.

Keel Strip
The most popular option for custom sea kayaks, a 50mm wide length of tape is run down the centre of the hull to offer extra reinforcement. This can be colour coded to the boat or left clear.
Custom Bulkheads
A custom position bulkhead can be done for a number of reasons; for fitting of a foot pump, in order to maximise available hatch space or to use as a footrest.
Compass
Most valley sea kayaks can be fitted from the factory with a Silva 70p compass in the recess just in front of the front hatch.
Rudder
Whilst most people will be happy with the skeg system fitted as standard to all Valley sea kayaks there is the option of having a rudder fitted to most models.
