Valley Gemini SP - GRP Composite
The Valley Gemini SP (Sports Play) is one of a pair of sea kayak designs (along with the Gemini ST) that were created to defy convention and offer a sub 16ft sea kayak that could keep up with bigger sea boats yet offer the manouverability and handling advantages of a smaller sea kayak.
Whilst the Gemini ST is oriented more towards touring, the SP is an all out play boat with increased rocker, greater bow volume, harder chines and a flatter mid-hull cross section which all help to make it brilliant in rough water. The Gemini SP is exremely nimble and surfs well and, thanks to its greater bow rocker, avoids pearling more than most sea kayaks. Because of the increased wear and tear that can occur when rock hopping and surfing, the Gemini SP is also made in a stronger lay-up than most composite sea kayaks. Whilst this increases the weight slightly, the Gemini is still a light boat compared to most conventional sea kayaks.
The Gemini SP carries all the features you would expect; a drop down skeg to help with straight line tracking, three storage hatches with bulkheads and the normal deck lines and elastics. Inside the cockpit it is outfitted with a comfortable padded seat, adjustable backrest, hip pads and adjustable Yakima Footrests.
The Valley Gemini SP is a fun, playful and agile boat that is best suited for paddlers weighing between 65kg and 100kg.

Keel Strip
The most popular option for custom sea kayaks, a 50mm wide length of tape is run down the centre of the hull to offer extra reinforcement. This can be colour coded to the boat or left clear.
Custom Bulkheads
A custom position bulkhead can be done for a number of reasons; for fitting of a foot pump, in order to maximise available hatch space or to use as a footrest.
Pumps
Valley offer two types of pump, a foredeck mounted Compac 50 pump or a Henderson foot pump mounted to a custom position bulkhead.
Compass
Most valley sea kayaks can be fitted from the factory with a Silva 70p compass in the recess just in front of the front hatch.
Rudder
Whilst most people will be happy with the skeg system fitted as standard to all Valley sea kayaks there is the option of having a rudder fitted to most models.
